Palaeontologists have unearthed Europe’s most complete stegosaurian skull in Teruel, Spain, shedding new light on the evolution of plated dinosaurs. The partial skull, belonging to Dacentrurus armatus, was recovered from Late Jurassic sediments and reveals previously unknown anatomical details. The study also proposes a new group, Neostegosauria, which redefines global stegosaur relationships. This discovery marks 150 years since Dacentrurus armatus was first described and confirms Teruel as a key region for understanding dinosaur evolution.
