Using a focused ion beam, they carved microscopic helical structures from a magnetic crystal (Co\u2083Sn\u2082S\u2082). These tiny helices act as switchable diodes, letting current flow more easily in one direction, and the direction can be flipped by changing the magnetization or the helix\u2019s twist.
