All-Organic Solar Cells Achieve Record Efficiency by Doubling Previous Performance

8 مايو 2025

Scientists in Japan have achieved a record 8.7% power conversion efficiency in all-organic solar cells, more than doubling the previous record. This breakthrough was achieved by developing organic electrodes with high conductivity that do not require acid doping or high-temperature heating, preventing damage to plastic substrates. These solar cells are environmentally friendly, as they can be safely incinerated like regular plastics. The flexible and lightweight nature of these cells makes them ideal for use in environmentally sensitive areas and wearable devices.
