Dr. Kyriaki Michailidou is a distinguished scientist and Associate Professor, serving as Head of the Biostatistics Unit at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics. Her research lies at the crossroads of genetics, epidemiology, and biostatistics, with a particular focus on breast and ovarian cancer.
She leads a team of five researchers dedicated to uncovering the genetic underpinnings of breast and ovarian cancers. Their work focuses on identifying both common and rare genetic variants that influence breast cancer risk, while also advancing biostatistical methodologies to address complex challenges in cancer genetics and epidemiology.
Dr. Michailidou’s academic journey is as remarkable as her scientific contributions. She holds a PhD in Genetic Epidemiology from the University of Cambridge, an MSc in Applied Statistics from the University of Oxford, and a BA in Mathematics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her leadership and research continue to shed light on cancer risk factors and provide new tools to improve prevention, early detection, and personalized medicine.
