Establishment of the UNESCO – Al Fozan International Prize

The UNESCO – Al Fozan International Prize for the promotion of young scientists in STEM was established by the Executive Board of UNESCO in October 2021 with the aim of enhancing STEM research, STEM education, and international collaboration. This prestigious prize seeks to acknowledge the accomplishments of young individuals whose contributions have the potential to drive socio-economic transformation and development on a global level. Additionally, it aims to generate greater interest in science, particularly among girls and women, in order to promote gender equality, scientific literacy, and the pursuit of scientific careers. By recognizing and supporting the achievements of young scientists, this prize aims to foster a culture of scientific excellence, innovation, and inclusivity, thereby advancing the fields of STEM and contributing to the overall progress of society.
