Vaccines Reduce Risk of Long COVID in Children, Study Finds

3 January 2024

A recent study published in Nature reveals that COVID-19 vaccines significantly reduce the risk of long-lasting symptoms, known as long COVID, in children. The study, conducted in the United States, enrolled 1,600 children aged 5 to 17 who had contracted COVID-19. Among the participants, 28 developed long COVID. The findings showed that vaccination reduced the likelihood of experiencing at least one long COVID symptom by 34% and two or more symptoms by 48%. These results highlight the importance of vaccinating children to protect them from the potential long-term impacts of COVID-19.
