Stefan H.E. Kaufmann is a Senior Professor at Charité – University Medicine Berlin and a leading figure in infection biology. He received his degree in Biology from Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz in 1977. He is the Founding Director Emeritus of the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology, an institution he helped establish as a world-class center for research. Beyond his research, he is a Faculty Fellow at the Hagler Institute for Advanced Study at Texas A&M University and serves as a key member of the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.
